We presented an informative assembly about the Sikh religion and celebrated the life of Guru Gobind Singh on his birthday earlier this term. The whole school enjoyed our presentation.
In History we have loved learning about Florence Nightingale and made a human timeline by putting the events of her life in chronological order.
During P.E we have been watching how our heart rate changes when we are resting and when we are doing exercise. We linked this to our Science topic about how to keep healthy.
This term we had a very special visitor come to our school. Florence Nightingale told us all about the Victorian era and showed us how to take care of wounded soldiers.
2 Stars celebrated Diwali by making Diva lamps using clay and children learnt a traditional Hindu dance for our Diwali Assembly.
This term Year 2 have leaning about Henry VIII and visited Hampton Court Palace. We explored how the Tudor’s used to dress and made our own special Tudor Bonnets.
Year 2 have been exploring multiplication and division facts. Children used concrete manipulatives to support their learning.
For Christmas we visited the local church and sang carols. We shared the important messages of Christmas. We also enjoyed our Christmas fair and took part in lots of activities including face painting.
At the beginning of the term our class created a class charter and we explored our rights as a learner.
An artist visited our class in September 2018 and helped create an underwater painting. We learnt how to use different shades of blue and learnt how to paint using shapes.
In Computing we have been learning how to log on and log off. We have been developing our mouse skills and learnt how to print, save and edit our work in the 2draw software.
For Geography this term we have been learning to locate the different continents and oceans on a map and on a globe.
In Maths this term we have been developing our number skills using a part whole model and a place value chart. We have also been learning to compare numbers using the greater than, less than and equals to symbols.
