How to Grow and Learn!
'Gardening Hearts and Minds'
An outdoor initiative enabling pupils to engage in therapeutic gardening and creativity, has got off to a good start this term.
Pupils from Key stage 2 have been learning lots of new skills through enjoying harvesting beans, tomatoes and spinach, weeding raised beds, learning to compost as well as digging for 'potato' treasure!
Last week the group spent the morning being 'Soup Chefs' preparing very healthy organic vegetable soup from all our garden produce and fresh herbs. Parents joined us which was very special and we got to taste the soup too!
After half term we will be planting winter grown vegetables such as lettuce and broccoli. Several of the children say that they help to grow things at home which is so good to hear. Please let us know if you would be willing to share any gardening tips with us or even donate some of your seeds saved from your last years produce for us to grow in the school garden.
We hope that you will continue to enjoy seeing the school garden flourish as we use all the opportunities that gardening offers to teach your children growing skills and nurture their well-being.
